Neil cicierega work timer5/28/2023 If your area doesn't have an established living wage, look up the average living costs of your area and go to option 3. Look up the living wage in your area, multiply it by 2, and that will be your hourly rate. Will this be your primary source of income?.So let me detail a much more practical method for determining your prices. You could try asking others to arbitrarily value your art, but they're going to struggle just as much. It's very difficult to look at your art and try and determine some arbitrary value and end up with a price that is not only fair but also something you can live off of. I very frequently give the same advice in the discords that I'm in so I thought I'd just go ahead and write a post collecting it all! Pricing commissions but do not rely on any of the above places (and especially we heart it) for sourcing/finding aesthetic images. this is ESPECIALLY true for pinterest, since people usually pull their pins directly FROM the sources themselves. Google images isn’t always reliable as a reverse image search, but i’ve pulled off massive miracles with tineye.Īlso behance has some free images and various other resources for images!įinal piece of advice: tumblr, pinterest and instagram CAN be a good resource if you use it and try to source correctly/follow up on sources - but also make sure to archive and checks links for off-site resources if they’re there. i STRONGLY recommend it and it’s made a huge difference with coding character profiles on and using for art as well.įor anyone wanting more diverse and inclusive stock photos, free to use, is there and i LOVE it. most creators sell their wallpaper/pattern/texture packs for under $10, and some even sell HUGE sale bundles for the same amount if not less. I also recommend using etsy for patterns/backgrounds. Reblogging because I was trying to find this earlier to share with someone and it took foreeeeveeeer….Also adding my google docs which has more resources. Am sharing so all you other artsy types can try it out too. It gives a much clearer idea of how long my work usually takes (and how much time I spend getting distracted by the internet…) I can finally properly clock my hours without having to manually start and stop timers. I’ve been using this for a little while now and it’s actually really great. This way, you have a constant peripheral reminder of how little of your day has actually been spent on important things like “doing what you’re supposed to” and “not having fun.” If you alt-tab over to something that is not one of those programs, like Chrome or Spotify or 3D Pinball, or if you zone out and don’t move the mouse for too long, it turns red and stops the timer until you resume proper grown-up behavior. Whenever you’re using those programs, it turns a pleasing shade of blue and times you. You tell it what programs you use for work/productivity. The artists I’ve attempted to give this to were horrified and sickened by the idea of it. Here is a very simple little app I wrote in AutoHotkey for Windows to help productivity.
